Police rescue Catholic Nun from fleeing kidnappers in Benue

Police operatives have rescued a Catholic Nun who was abducted by suspected kidnappers from the Convent in Ichama village on Friday in Benue State.

Spokesperson of the Benue State police Command, DSP. Anene Catherine who made this known in a statement on Saturday, however did not disclose the identity of the victim who was rescued from the fleeing kidnappers.

Anene said police operatives swooped on the hoodlums, following intelligence report at about 2300hrs that armed men have overpowered the Civilian security personnel at the gate of the convent in Ichama village and adopted a Reverend Sister.

“The police on routine patrol in the area responded quickly and chased the hoodlums into a nearby forest where they abandoned the victim and took to their heels”.

The police image maker explained that the “victim who was tensed by the incident is currently responding to treatment at Okpoga” area in the State.

She further revealed that police “detective are on the trail of the suspects”.
