The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II has played host to the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Aminu Ado-Bayero.

The interaction between the two traditional rulers is geared towards strengthening cultural bond between Kano Emirate, Benin at a time when Nigeria is on the edge of the precipice.

Speaking on the significant of Ado-Bayero’s visit, the Benin monarch, said visit marks the opening of new vistas of possibilities and clearly buttressed the age-long traditions of their forebears.
Addressing newsmen at the Benin airport, the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Aminu Ado-Bayero, described his visit to Benin as home coming.
“We have been here before, and coming back here, I am here to extend my respect and my appreciation from Kano Emirate to the Benin Kingdom and that of the people of Edo State.
‘Me coming here is like me coming home and I am happy being here and I will be happy being here again.
‘I will always be here for a reason, that is unity, and for the coexistence of this Country,’ he said.
He described the Benin monarch as his elder brother and prayed that whatever he touches should be blessed by God just as he prayed for the peace and stability in the state.
“My wish has always been a good Will to Edo people and for Nigeria at large and I pray, whatever he puts his hand, he will succeed.
‘I pray peace and stability will be paramount here. And I pray, my big brother, the Oba of Benin, and my other brother, the Governor, and all the rest of the leaders, I pray that they will succeed in all their endeavours, I pray peace will continue to reign in Nigeria,’ he prayed”, he said.
Our Correspondent reports that the the private aircraft marked 5N-AAK that conveyed the Kano Emir arrived the Benin airport at 3:59p.m on Saturday.
Ado-Bayero with his aides were received by a retinue of security aides and palace functionaries.
Ogbe primary school pupils and students who queued up on airport road in Benin City, defied the scorching sun to welcome the guests, while the various dance troops, youths groups, thrilled guests the event.
