Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State have defected to Peoples Democratic party (PDP), predicting extinction of the main opposition party in the locality.
Chief Francis Ihama who led the defectors on Friday in Udo Community in the Local Government, assured that Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP will soon overcome their difference.
Recall that there has been a discordant tunes over alleged plans to dissolve the State Executive Committee (SEC) elected executive Committee members of PDP.
Ihama said his support for Governor Obaseki is due to his commitment towards job creation for unemployed youths in the State.
He said: “we will work for the development of PDP. Our Governor will have peace and whatever hurdle that he is going through right now in he party, he will succeed”.
According to him, “Why are we supporting Obaseki? We are supporting him to develop our area and create jobs for unemployed youths to get jobs”.
PDP Leader in Udo Ward 5, Hon. Nosa Omoruyi, presented PDP umbrella to the defectors.
Presenting the defectors to the Iyase of Edo, HRH Patrick Ekhorutomwen Igbinidu at his palace in Edo Community, the Chairman of the party in Ward 5, Mr. Friday Aragua, vouch for the credibility of Chief Francis Ihama to strengthened and give direction to the ruling party.
Responding, HRH Patrick Ekhoerutomwen Igbinidu, prayed God and the ancestors to use Chief Ihama and members of his team to develop the area.
Earlier in a remark, Prince Benjamin Ihama, former Commissioner for Special Duty in the State.
“I am note than grateful for having one of the pillars coming to join us…We have been crying day and night to join us in PDP.
“We know his political weight and his coming to PDP has added more force and in no distant time, he will bing the left over to PDP”, he said.
