Hoodlums resume hostilities in Abia, set police station ablaze

Suspected arsonists have set a police station on fire in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

It happened barely one week after a police formation at the Ubani Market area in the locality was razed by unidentified gunmen.

According to multiple sources, unspecified number of vehicles parked at the outer gate of the Local Government Area headquarters and less than 10 metres from the LGA field, were razed by the hoodlums who invaded the police station in the early hours of Thursday.

“We heard series of gunshots, and when we rushed outside, we saw the station on fire,” the Daily Trust quoted a resident in the area.

About six hours ago, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu left Bende LGA headquarters where a Civic reception was held for the immediate past House of Representatives member who represented Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnenna Ukeje.

As at the time of filing this report, a joint security patrol team have mobilised to the area.
