Elders’ demand release of chiefs detained in Edo Rep, Agba’s locality

Elders in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State have demanded for the unconditional release of some village Chiefs from police custody in connection with alleged murder.

The title Chiefs, James Alugbei, Peter Ajegba, Anthony Adamu and Emmanuel Ikeme who hail from Uneme and Uzanu both in were arrested and detained on orders of the State deputy governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu over two months ago when they appeared before the later who is the State Chairman of National Boundary Commission.

The Chiefs are from Uneme-Uzanu Clan, South East Uneme in Etsako East Local Government Area of the State where the member representing Etsako West Constituency in the National Assembly, Johnson Oghuma and the Minister of Budget and National Planning (state), Mr. Clement Agba’s domain.

The elders in an advertorial in one of national dailies and signed by six titled Chiefs in Uzanu, sought the intervention of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Alkali Baba’s intervention.

Chief Zibiri Baja, the Asama of Uzanu; Mallam Ibrahim Izenobor, the Ogamode of Uzanu; Alhaji Ibrahim Omokpua, the Ogiega of Uzanu; Chief Kasimu Kadiri, the Osese of Uzanu Chief Ephraim Abu, the Egiegba of Uzanu and Chief ThankGod Aliu, the Eshiemogie of Uzanu were those who signed the letter of appeal to the I-G.
