Grand Lodge holds Freemasonry mid-year Communication in Benin

The Freemasonry half-yearly communication (meeting) has been held in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

It was the first meeting of the body since the election of executives of the Grand Lodge, led by its President, Onueze C. Okocha (SAN) in November 2019.

On Friday, members of the brotherhood, paid a courtesy call on the Oba of Benin to seek Royal blessings and informed him about the Freemasonry mid-year Communication.

Addressing the Benin throne, the President of the body, Okocha, formally introduced the executives of the Grand Lodge, Nigeria to the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II and briefed him on the programme of activities for the half-yearly Communication.

Speaking further, Okocha, commended his sterling leadership qualities since he ascended the throne of his forebears on October 20, 2016.

Responding, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, enjoined Freemasonry to show kindness to one another irrespective of tribe, religion and race as well as promote peace.

According to him, “Even the British have respects our culture and tradition, therefore we should hold our tradition very well. That is the basis of our roots, existence and values”

“If the leaders of this Country have the principles of Freemasonry, politics would bit have been so bad or become a do-or-die affair”, he said.

The monarch prayed for members of the fraternity and thanked them for the encomiums that were showered in him by the guests.
