Solomon Adebayo, Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello’s Commissioner in charge of pensions, has been shot dead by suspected assailants.

He said Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Kogi State Command, Mr. William Ayah who confirmed the incident in a statement, said Adebayo’s driver sustained gunshot injury in the attack.

He said Adebayo was killed while travelling to Kabba area from Ilorin on Saturday evening.

The police spokesman revealed that investigation into the incident has begun with a view to arrest and prosecute the culprits.

The Commissioner’s driver had been taken to ECWA hospital while the body of the deceased has been deposited at undisclosed morgue.

A security source source revealed that the State Governor has concluded plans to visit the family of the late Commissioner.
