Northern govs demand release of remaining abducted Kaduna varsity students

Northern Governors’ Forum has called for the unconditional release of other three students and staff of Greenfield University, Kaduna State who are still in captivity.

The three students were among those abducted few days ago by gunmen at the University Campus.

The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong
made the appeal in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, on Saturday in Jos.

He condemned the recent killing of three students of the institution, describing the incident as an act of wickedness and barbaric, assuring that the perpetrators must not go unpunished.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Lalong said there was no justification for the murder of the innocent students and families of the murdered students as well as the Government and people of Kano State, over the demise of the mother of Emirs of Kano and Bichi, Hajiya Maryam Ado Bayero.

Laling said northern governors would continue to engage the Federal Government and security agencies towards finding a lasting solution to kidnapping and other criminal activities especially in schools in the region.

In the mean time, parents of the abducted students have appealed to the Federal and Kaduna state government to assist them in rescuing their children.
