Panic as gunmen attack residence of Benin Chief

A prominent Benin Chief, Osamede Adun, the Aiyobahan of Benin narrowly escaped death when gunshot rented his residence at the weekend in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

Multiple reports revealed that the hoodlums that fired sporadic gunshots at a party in the area, caused confusion in Ekpenede Street where Chief Adun lives.

Narrating his ordeal, Chief Adun, expressed shock over the incident and thanked God for sparing his life when bullets whizz by in his bedroom while he duck for cover.

“I was in my sitting room when I heard a gunshot in my bedroom. I quickly ran downstairs.

“I discovered that my louvres had been scattered by bullets”, he said.

The spokesman of the Nigeria police, Edo State Command, SP. Bello Kotongs, confirmed the incident.

Kotongs said police operatives responded to a distress call which led to the arrest of one of the suspect by brave youths
while others fled.

According to him, “a middle-aged man simply identified as “Mr. Osaigbovo” is with the police in connection with the incident”.

Kotongs assured that the suspect would be charged to court when investigation is completed.
