Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, a son-In-law to Senator Rochas Okorocha in Imo State has fundraised the sum of N1, 000.000.00 million (One Million Naira) for a Lagos-based ‘Lady Amputee hawker’, Mary Daniel whose viral photographs melted hearts on social Media a few days ago.
The financial support would enable the 26-year-old single mother to set up a provision store and carter for herself, two-year-old daughter with her aged mother at the Lagos Island in Lagos State.
Mr. Nwosu, former Chief of Staff, Imo State Government have had a breakfast with Mary who hails from Anyigba Local Government Area in Kogi State on April 11, 2021 in Lagos State where asked her to disclose the kind of business she would love to start.
The act of philanthropy was put together by Nwosu’s friends Prince Ben Odunze, and Barr. Steve Asimobi, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Rochas Okorocha and two other individuals.
According to multiple reports, Nwosu, had on April 9, 2021, stumbled upon the viral picture of Mary who was seen hawking bottled water in Lagos State on Social Media despite being an amputee and was moved by her situation and decided to lend support.
The development prompted the philanthropist to take a flight to Lagos State immediately and scheduled a breakfast meeting with Miss Mary at Lagos Island where she met with the single mother for the first time.
Speaking after his meeting with Mary, the Imo born politician, called on Nigerians to support Miss Mary Daniel and others who are facing challenges across the Country.
He also urged Nigerian youths to effect changes in the society and touch lives using social media.
He further appreciated those who released the pictures of Miss Mary so the world would see and come to her aid.
The photograph with the Amputee with Nwosu that was shared on social Media has however elicited commendations and backlash among Nigerians on social Media.
