Tension has heightened in Toto Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, following the alleged murder of the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Hussain and his counterpart in the locally by suspected bandits.
They were murdered in Garaku, Kokona LGA on Friday night during an attack, according to the Spokesman of Nigeria police, Nassarawa State Command, ASP Ramham Nansel.
The police spokesman said in a statement on Saturday that the bodies of the victims have been recovered while security has been beefed up in the area.
He said: “On 2/4/2021 at about 7pm, information was received that unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits attacked and killed one Mohammed Hussaini, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Nasarawa State and Mohammed Umar, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Toto LGA at Garaku market.
“Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe swiftly deployed Operation Puff Adder II personnel to the scene where the two corpses were recovered and taken to the hospital”, he said.
He revealed that the corpses were deposited at Anthony memorial Mortuary for post Mortem examination after being confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
Reacting to the incident, a non-serving Senator, Shehu Sani, condemned the “beastly killing of the two Prominent Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association leaders .
He said in a tweet that the tragedy attest to the fact that no ethnic or religious group is safe from this common danger.
According to him, “The beastly killing of the two Prominent Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Assoc. leaders in Nasarawa State, Mohammed Hussein and Muhammed Umar yesterday (Friday) by bandits is condemnable. Tragically, this attest to the fact that no ethnic or religious group is safe from this common danger”.
