EFCC begins prosecution of nine suspected crude oil thieves


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has began investigation and prosecution of suspected nine crude oil thieves in Lagos State.


The suspected illegal oil dealers and a vessel were arrested on December 19, 2020 at the Nigeria-Benin Republic Maritime boundary, for suspicious dealings in petroleum products along with oil vessel by the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Beecroft, Apapa, Lagos State.

Lieutenant Commander, A. A. Adukanya, who represented the Navy during the handing over of the vessel and the arrested crew members to the EFCC, identified the crew members as Anthony Ekpo Bassey Iso, Chinedu Nwanchukwu, Endurance Ossai, Emmanuel Monday, Ibrahim Ahmed, Victor Frank, Kenneth Philip, Chinemeze Samuel, and Matthew Timothy.


Mr. Idris Abubakar, Head, Extractive Industry Fraud Section, EIFS, received the suspects and the vessel on behalf of the Commission.
