A housewife simply identified as Iyobor and her unidentified mother have fled their home after dumping a new born baby in a drainage.

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday in Ire Street, Ihogbe, Oredo Local Government Area of the State.

Reports from the area stated that the mother of the abandoned baby, laid the child bare and left her for dead before curious residents in discovered the abominable act.

Some youths, pulled the baby girl through a small opening under the iron slab to safety after several hours before the child was taken to hospital for treatment.

A social Media user, Omo-Kivie Adeola who posted the video footage of the child on her Facebook page on Friday, said the parents of the abandoned the child has fled their homes.

She condemned the act, adding that “the baby weathered the cold night in a manhole”.
