The All Progressives Congress has alleged that the “infighting in Peoples Democratic is responsible for the absence of a cabinet in Edo State, four months after Governor Godwin Obaseki was sworn-in for a second term of four years in office.
Recall that the Secretary to Edo State Government, Mr. Osarodion Ogie had in a statement, said the delay in appointing cabinet is to enable the Government conclude its ongoing recruitment of workers into the State Civil Service.
In a statement by the Assistant Publicity Secretary of Edo APC, Victor Ofure Osehobo on Tuesday, mocked the ruling party (APC) for not been able to settle down to the business of governance after claiming election victory at the September 19, 2020 Governorship polls in Edo State.
The main opposition party denied reports that “the Edo State Chapter of APC is being sidelined by the National Secretariat of the party in constituting a Contact/Strategy Committee”.
Ofure revealed that “there is also no doubt that the ongoing APC nationwide membership registration exercise is going on well across all the Units in Edo state. PDP leaders are even dazed by the feat the exercise has become.
“The success of the exercise can be fathomed from the decision of some estwhile top PDP members like Senator Domingo Obende, who have since joined the APC at their units.
“But it is in the PDP character, even nationwide, as a party of busybodies to spread falsehood. It is therefore not a surprise because the lies are an attempt by a dying party to console itself for its failures which are legendary and seek a semblance of relevance.
“The PDP should actually bury its head in shame for peddling this fake news because there are prominent Edo state APC members like Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on this Committee.
“Here is a party which won an election in Edo state but rather than settling down to the business of governance has been busy fighting.
The PDP’s infighting has fuelled its inability to put its house in order thus depriving Edo State a cabinet, and elected Local Government chairman and councillors for months now”, he said.
