The Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has accused the Federal Government of assassination attempt on Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom.

The convoy of Ortom was attacked on Makurdi/Gboko road in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue on Saturday.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Capital of Rivers, Governor Wike, warned that if the Benue Governor is killed, it could lead to upheaval in the Country.

“If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria. If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria,” Wike.

Wike also alleged plans by the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Major-General Jamil Sarham, and All Progressives Congress Chieftains had also plotted his assassination during the 2019 general elections.

Also the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) had in a statement by its national Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan earlier in a statement, condemned the attack on Benue Governor’s convoy.
