Two prison warders were killed on Friday when suspected hoodlums engaged Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), conveying some inmates to court in Anambra State, in a shoot-out.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the attack took place at about 11a.m in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA of Anambra State.
A witness was quoted as saying that the officials and inmates in the vehicle scampered for safety during the attack.
The Public relations officer of NCS in Anambra State, Francis Ekechukwu, confirmed the incident in which some inmates were freed by the hoosums.
He was quoted as saying that the service had launched an investigation into the attack.
Also, the spokesperson of the Nigeria police, Ikenga Tochukwu, said officers had “swiftly responded” to arrest the gunmen.
“It is very unfortunate, but police operatives swiftly responded and chased the hoodlums away. Investigation is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of this act,” Tochukwu said.
The outlet, was unable to confirm if the gunmen succeeded in releasing any of the inmates in the bus.
