Unspecified number of naval and police personnel have been reportedly ambushed and killed in different locations of Anambra State.

Confidential sources revealed that some of the victims were attacked at Neni junction in the Anaocha Local Government Area of the State while others were attacked at Awkuzu, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the State.

The naval officers, according to reports, were on duty at the junction when the hoodlums attacked them around 2p.m Thursday, amid panic.

A top police officer in the Command told the Nigerian Tribune that “the two incidents happened but I cannot ascertain the number of casualties as at the moment”.

Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Anambra State Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenganyia, confirmed the incident, but stressed that he is yet to get detail of what happened.

He said: “I’m making contacts to get details before I will issue a statement on the matter before long”.

On Tuesday, suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly kidnapped the President-General of Omor and a legal practitioner in the Ayamelum Local Government Area of the State.

TheNewspad reports that the incident has heightened tension in area, even as the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Willy Obiano has called a security meeting in connection with the incident.
