Police confirm kidnap of students, teachers in Edo

The Nigeria police has confirmed the abduction of some students and teachers at the National Institute of Construction Technology in Edo State.

Unidentified gunmen stormed the institute on Wednesday night in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of the State and abducted the the students and teachers.

The spokesman of the Nigeria police, Edo State Command, SP. Bello Kontongs, confirmed the report to TheNewspad in a telephone interview, but did not give details.

“I have also heard about the incident since yesterday night. There is no detail yet. I am waiting for the officer-in-charge of anti-kidnapping and be assured that as soon we get details we will let you know”, he said.

Security sources hinted that the abductees were ambushed by the armed men from the premises of the institute on Wednesday night.

Already, parents of kidnapped victims have stormed the school premises over the unfortunate event, which has heightened tension among residents in the locality.
