The ActionAid Nigeria has condoled with the Italian Embassy in Nigeria on the gruesome murder of their Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Luca Attanasio.

The envoy lost his life alongside two other people including a soldier, in the attack in North Kivu province of Congo, three days ago.

The Country Director, ActionAid, Nigeria, Mrs. Ene Obi, made the remark at the equipment handover Ceremony of the Migration II (Dare to Hope Project) on Thursday in Benin City, Edo State.

She prayed God to grant his family, the Italian Embassy in Nigeria and indeed the Government and good people of Italy the fortitude to bear this loss.

“At this point, let me on behalf of ActionAid Nigeria, condole with the Italian Embassy in Nigeria, on the gruesome murder of of their Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Luca Attanasio. We are aware that he lost his life few days ago alongside an Italian soldier in an attack on his convoy.

“We pray that God to grant his family, the Italian Embassy in Nigeria and indeed the Government and good people of Italy the fortitude to bear this loss”, Mrs. Obi said.
