Journalists mourn death of oldest ‘practising veteran’ in Edo


Journalists in Edo State have expressed shock over the death of oldest ‘practising veteran’ in Edo State, Pa Sunny Ojeduma who died at the age of 75 years.


The veteran journalist started his journalism career over 50 years ago.

He died at the University of Benin teaching Hospital, UBTH on Sunday morning after a brief illness.

Ojeduma who is survived by a wife and 12 Children, hails from Uhomora in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The late journalist worked for the defunct Community Concord, A.M Newspapers excluding The City People News Magazine.

Until his death, PA Sunny Ojeduma was a member of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu led members on a condolence visit to his residence on Monday in Benin City.

Yakubu urged the bereaved family of Pa Sunny Ojeduma to be strong and described his contributions to the journalism profession as profound.

Speaking, widow of the late journalist, Mrs. Joy Ojeduma, described her husband’s death as a great loss.

She revealed that when her husband was sick, the family took him to several hospitals in a bid to restore his health before he passed on.
