NEF Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed made the allegation on Channels television programme, ‘Politics today’ on Wednesday evening.

He lamented that some individuals from certain regions of the Country have criminalised and demonize lawful Fulani people who are not bandits as a result of hatred for the ethnic group.

“We gave advice to the Fulani’s on the basis of all the things that have been happening. Everyone in Nigeria knows in the last few days that a lot of Fulani people have been harassed, threatened and attacked initially in the Western part of the Country. Now, it is in the Eastern part of the Country. Even as we speak, it is also possible that some Fulani’s are either hiding or running away from their homes.

“Even individuals have taken the laws into their hands and have decided that they do not want to see Fulani anywhere in Nigeria. These are Nigerians living lawfully and pursuing a living like every other Nigerians. Suddenly, they have been demonized and criminalised; Everybody is saying, we do not want to see Fulani anywhere. Fulani must go!.

“We have discovered that innocent people are being attacked just for being Fulani. This is wrong and unacceptable. We also established that a lot of them in Oyo, Ondo and some parts of the Eastern part of Nigeria are been threatened and attacked. A lot of them has also also been killed.

“So, we advice the Fulani to seek protection from States, agents, Communities and decent Nigerians”, he advised.
