The Nigerian Government is set to establish 38 oxygen gas plants nationwide for the treatment of Covid-19 patients who require oxygen.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said this at the first National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
He revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of N6.45 billion for the project, aimed at addressing emergency health needs of Covid-19 patients in the Country.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire informed the Council that the out of N55.1 billion that was approved by the President in 2018 to activate the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund based on the National Health Act, 50% of the sum has since been released to the States and the Federal Capital Territory.
Giving further insight at the meeting, the Minister, explained that the Federal Government has also allocated N35 billion for the Fund in 2021.
Update on account balances as at 20th January, 2020 given by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, including the Excess Crude Account (ECA), which stood at $72,411,197, featured at the NEC meeting.
