Two road construction workers were reportedly crushed to death during a horrific workplace accident on Saturday in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

The tragedy occurred in Ogiso road, off Murtala Mohammed (MM) Way, according  to witnesses.

The victims whose identities are yet to be ascertained, were working on the Ogiso road which is under construction ― when the fully loaded concrete mixer truck suddenly lost its bearing, snapped and tumbled off before collapsed on the workers in a tunnel.

The deceased were said to have died before rescue could come their way after a tonne of wet concrete slab fell-off, pierced the middle-aged men.

Work at the construction site has reportedly been suspended to pave way for investigation into the incident.

Policemen from Esigie Divisional police Division have evacuated the victims bodies to a private morgue on Murtala Mohammed Way as at the time of filing this report.
