APC call comes barely 24 hours after alleged fatal abduction of Edo State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Anthony Okungbowa on Saturday by gunmen while returning from a social event at Oza area in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the State.

Reacting to the development on Sunday, a Chieftain of PDP in the State, Rita Ebiuwa, rejected the move by APC and urged the main opposition party in the State to direct the call for Obaseki resignation to President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that governor Obaseki will complete his tenure in office irrespective of the the rhetoric.

According to her, “The Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) Chairman, Col. Imuse (Rted) is calling for Obaseki’s resignation, someone should tell him to call for Buhari’s resignation first.

“Godwin Obaseki till 2024, no shaking”, she said in her terse statement which was seen by our Correspondent.

But the Edo State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Col David Imuse (Rtd) in a statement on Sunday in Benin City, alleged that Governor Obaseki has ran out of ideas about how to govern the State less than two months after he was sworn into office for the second term.

Imuse said the call has become necessary arising from the alleged failure of Obaseki in protecting the lives of Edo people and property of Edo Citizens in line with his oath of office and allegiance.

The APC Chairman said, “No one is safe in Edo. The state is under siege. We have a governor who has lost focus. Fear and insecurity has become the order of the day, yet the Governor takes N700million monthly as security vote. And so far he has not been able to deploy this huge amount to mobilise the security agencies in the state to fight criminality”.

The Edo APC Chairman also advised financial organizations not to honour any loan request by the Government forthwith in order to plunge the State into insolvency.
