But, the immediate past Chairman of Edo APC, Mr. Anselm Ojezua lost his bid to return.

Imuse, the former factional Chairman of the party in the State is staunch loyalist of the former national Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

He was inaugurated on Friday by the national body in Abuja, along with 35 other State Chapters of the party.

The Edo State Chapter of the party which had been embroiled in internal crisis prior to the emergnce of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Candidate of the party in the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in the State.

Leaders of the party across the 18 Local Government Areas are to b inaugurated by Imuse.

Ojezua, had hinted on his intention to defect from APC to the ruling Peoples Democratic party (PDP), alleging that APC has no future.

Recall that the virtual National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of APC presided over by Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, extended the tenure of Yobe State governor, Mai Bala Buni-led APC Committee by six months and dissolved all the party structures including zones and State Chapters.

Meanwhile, a major crisis is brewing in the Edo State Chapter of the PDP, following governor Godwin Obaseki’s alleged push for the dissolution of the party’s executives.

The Governor and persons who defected with him to the PDP feared that allowing the party structure as presently constituted would be liken to “political suicide.”

The Governor who has been speculated to have mounted pressure on the party’s National leadership for the dissolution of the executive to pave the way for his loyal supporters to takeover the leadership structure, is yet to formally react.

But the move for the dissolution is said to have pitched the PDP leaders against the governor, amid – protest by some members of the party that the current executives were inaugurated only on February 14, 2020.

Few weeks ago, Mr. Osarodion Ogie as Secretary to the State Government was said to have angered some party leaders whom had requested that the position be reserved for “old PDP” members to reflect an all inclusiveness.

A leader of the party in Edo South Senatorial District who craved for anonymity said: “the governor’s action is unfair to Edo PDP considering how we clothed him when Oshiomhole’s APC humiliated him out of the guber race.

“Now, he has won and want to push those who rallied round him… Himself, deputy governor and the SSG were defectors from APC and they are riding on the goodwill of PDP.

“Yet they want a properly and legally constituted party executives dissolved. We won’t allow it,” the chieftain said.

Meanwhile, some members of the party in Edo State have approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain the National leadership of PDP from dissolving the Party Executives.

Plaintiff in the suit marked: FHC /ABJ/cs/1618/20 include, Hon. Baba Habeeb Sheriff Idenobemhe (Assistant State Secretary), Mr Onaiwu Felix (Ovia South West chairman) and two other ward chairmen.

Spokesman for the PDP in Edo State, Mr. Chris Nehikhare said: “the party’s leadership enjoys cordial relationship with the governor”.

Obaseki joined the PDP in June 2020 after his former party – APC disqualified him from contesting the State governorship primary over alleged academic qualification.

He thereafter picked the PDP’s ticket and emerged victorious at the September 19 governorship poll.
