Suspected ‘thieves’ set ablaze in Benin

Two suspected thieves were on Tuesday set ablaze by an angry mob in Upper Sokponba road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

THE SUSPECTED THIEVES ON FIRE

Shocking video footage from the scene, revealed that the incident occurred, set tongues wagging among some residents in the area who wailed helplessly.

According to reports, the young ill-fated armed robbers were among the four man gang were apprehended at Upper Sakpoba area of the Edo State Capital where they had gone to rob.

The development comes barely 24 hours after Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, pleaded with the police to return to put behind the part and go to the streets to fight crime, which has gripped the State government n the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest.

Crime wave in Edo State, assumed reached a fever pitch after hoodlums who set the inmates at the two Nigerian Correctional Centres in Benin (Sapele Road “White House” and Oko) free and vent their spleen on police personnel and public and national asset.

The other two robbery gang however escaped while the two unlucky ones were beaten to pulp before tires soaked with petrol was placed on them and set ablaze by the mob who laughed gleefully and cheer around the burn fire in the middle of the road by the popular three junction.

Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Edo State Command, Mr. Chidi Nwanbuzor could not be reach for comment as at the time of filing this report.
