A pan socio-Cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigo, has renewed call for restructuring and regional government in order quell social unrest and attain sufficiency in Nigeria.

The President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigo, Chief John Nwodo who made the assertion Sunrise aired on Channels television programme, Friday edition, however cautioned that those who want to take Nigerians for granted based on third own whims are headed for a fall.
“Nigeria should return back to pre-independence era in order to attain sufficiency, according to him, “when you have restructuring, you have competitions among the regions.
“Besides, the issues will move away from ethnic identity to competence of the administration in the various States of the Federation. We had in before. The Northern Nigeria, fired the Groundnut pyramid, the West, Cocoa pyramid, and the East fired palm oil production and palm kernels products. The Universities competed among one another. Ahmadu Bello was known for Architecture. University of Ibadan (UI) was known for Medicine, the University of Nigeria, Nsukkka (UNN) was known for Engineering and Humanities. And students came from all parts of the Country. The Examinations were transparent.
“I went to Aba in Anambra State to sit for Entrance Examinations to gain admission into University of Ibadan. When I got to the University of Ibadan, I was a minority tribe. I come from Igboland, but, I won election to become the President of students Union Government (SUG) in the University of Ibadan. This kind of ethic conflict was not everything then. There was resilient factors that bother on what can you out on the table? What do you have to offer?
“People who competence in their areas of specialization in security, were given prominence. But, today, you see the recruitment pattern of people without recourse to what they scored in the Examinations. Now, the quality of Management is a matter of patronage of ethnic origins. Look at our admissions into Federal Secondary schools and Nigerian Universities.
“Look at the quota system in which has completely erased competence and standard in our Examinations. Today, this is what is playing out here. If we restructure, every region will bring out their best. If they have to donate people to national structures, the regions will donate the best that they have and we will be in the international competitions”, he said.
