ERA/FoEN move against ‘dissident group’ over plans to convey meeting


The Environmental Rights Action and Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN) has railed against plans by the former Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT), Mr. Nnimo Bassey to convey a Board meeting.

This was contained in a press statement on Friday by the legal Adviser of ERA/FeEN, Mr. Nosa Tokunbor who described the purported ERA/FoEN Board/Staff meeting being organize by members of the ‘dissident group’ as ‘illegal and of no effect’.

Recall that the General Assembly of ERA/FoEN in a resolution on Wednesday October 7, 2020, removed Mr. Chima Williams, former Head of ERA/FoEN Legal Unit and Mr. Nnimo Bassey as Chairman of the Board in the Organization, a position the later held for 20 years over a protracted conflict of interest and lack of trust.

Tokumbo emphasized in the Press statement that haven been removed, he (Bassey) lacks the capacity to convene any Board/Staff meeting.

He also called on all Staff of ERA/FoEN Nigeria, not to attend the meeting.
