Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has challenged religious leaders in Edo State to pray for the victory of the Candidate of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) Candidate in Ondo State governorship, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday October 10th 2020 for Ondo State governorship election.
Obaseki dropped the hint while addressing members and executives of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Thursday in Benin City, Edo State Capital.
“I also enjoin you all to pray for Jegede who is here with us so that the God who did it for us will do it for you in Ondo State”, he said.
He enjoined them to support his vision in order to deliver on his electoral promises to the people.
17 political parties including the incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Oluwaroti Akeredolu who is the Candidate are fielding Candidates in the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Godwin Obaseki, Candidate of PPD as the winner of September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State.
In their goodwill message, the Chairman of CAN, Edo State Chapter, Bishop Oriname Oyonnude Kure, and Revered Father David Oguns, described governor Obaseki as a man on a salvage mission in the State.
The Cleric who cited Bible references to buttress their sermons at the occasion, interceded for the incumbent Governor in the task of governance.
Earlier in a remark, the Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdul-Fatai Enabulele, lamented at 60th despondency still persist in Nigeria and called on God to redirect the course of the nation from the current economic morass.
The PDP Candidate in Ondo State Governorship election, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Esther Edigin, and Chairman of Edo State APC, Mr. Anselm Ojezua, were among the dignitaries who attended the prayer session which was part of activities to mark Nigeria’s Independence anniversary in the State.
