Philanthropist demands commitment towards widows, Orphans, Children’s empowerment

A Benin-based Philanthropist, Mr. Ogbebor Eghosa Osazee, has demanded commitment from Stakeholders globally towards assisting widows, Orphans and vulnerable people including underprivileged Children in Africa.

Osazee disclosed this during an endowment fund for widows, Orphans and vulnerable Children tagged, “One Life count” empowerment Foundation for widows and youth support fund” in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

He assured that such grants and Scholarship scheme will be utilised prudently and provide educational and other support the vulnerable groups.

The Philanthropist also demanded for for upgrade of Orphanages and foster homes in Africa.

He further called advocacy groups and International aide Organizations, Non Governmental Organizations to assist and raise more awareness about the plight of widows, Orphans and vulnerable Children and Caregivers in society.

“I have since the past Eight years championed the cause of philanthropy by giving succour to widows, Orphans and vulnerable Children in our society in food, business support, clothing, basic health supplement and education.

“This for me is not for showmanship neither is it for cheap publicity or wealth accumulation, but a call to duty by God and humanity.

“I have only with this little support is a little icing on the cake by giving hope to the despair, joy to the downcast and encouragement to those in despair.

“However, there are more oceans to be crossed as this little support of mine cannot reach everyone in need of such support in our society hence the need for all of us to come together and support awareness on the plight of widows, Orphans and vulnerable Children in our society

Mr. Ogbebor, admitted that most deaths in Africa could be traced to poor access to health facilities and poverty.

He also highlighted some of the inhuman treatment of widows, Orphans and other vulnerable children in society at the Ceremony which coincided with his Birthday.

“We want to establish an endowment fund to be known as One Life count empowerment Foundation for widows and youth support fund.

“This fund will be deposited in bank and part of it will be kept in a fixed deposit, stocks and other interest yielding investment, solely for the purpose of expanding the business of widows who are into business and support for education of other orphaned Children.

“Certain percentage of my business ventures and salaries will be committed to growing this fund and we will also call on good spirited individuals like you to support us.

“We will draw support from friends, companies, donor organizations and government to enable the widows, Orphans and vulnerable children in society live better life”, he stressed.

The United Nations in 2010 set aside June 23rd every year as International widows Day.
