The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial district in Edo State, Matthew Urhoghide has declared that the Candidate of Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Governor Godwin Obaseki will triumph over the Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Candidate of the All Progresives Congress (APC) in Saturday Governorship election in Edo State.

He described the achievements of the incumbent Governor who is seeking a second term in office as unprecedented.

Urhoghide disclosed this while interacting with journalists last Weekend in Benin City, the State Capital.

He also accused the former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of showing ingratitude to people who helped him to elected positions in the past and for bringing calamity to the APC.

He said, “PDP will never harbour people like Oshiomhole again” to use its platform, adding that mistakes of the party in the past will never repeat itself.

“It is on record today that every man or woman that has helped Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the years have been discarded by him one way or the other through ingratitude.

“So, we all struggled to make sure that his reign came to an end. In one way or the other, people believed that Oshiomhole was going to turn a new leaf when became a Governor.

“We were surprised about how he weather the storm. After weathering the storm, he rode on the back of people to the national Chairmanship position of the APC. And because he lacks idea, and his high level of intolerance, Oshiomhole could not finish his tenure as the national Chairman of the APC.

“So, for those of us who were watching from the side, we knew that it was just going to take sometime because Oshiomhole will show his crass intolerance and ingratitude. Today, he does not occupy any of these positions. And. he will never occupy the position anymore.

According to him, “Any attempt to subvert the will of the people that will be freely expressed in the ballot box, of course he is going to meet with some resistance because that is not the choice of God”.

“We have learnt our lessons and we will never lose Edo State again.

“The APC is just unfortunate that the calamity that befell the PDP before, Oshiomhole transferred it to APC. And the calamity that has befall the APC now, they can never recover from it.

“Anybody that wants to subvert the will of the people that will be freely expressed in the ballot box, of course hr is going to meet with some resistance because that is not the choice of God.

“So, everywhere Obaseki went to, there is a haul of sympathy for him due largely for the sake of the good work that he has to showcase. I have never seen this kind of crowd in my house before. It is like Jesus Christ leaving Jericho to Jerusalem.

“Obaseki running on the platform of PDP has enhanced the party. He has been exalted by the people. Ordinarily, it is unthinkable when a man yesterday who was a hero, people wanted to demonize him.

“You have seen a Governor that was qualified for an election four years ago, but was disqualified because of hatred and malice for reasons of course a lot of us could not phantom. It was an ego issue. Then you said you must stop him and because it happened in one or two parts of the States before, you thought that you could replicate it here. And the people have risen in unison to say no, no man is God.

“The circumstance surrounding Governor Godwin Obaseki was the one that a man wanted to stigmatise him, but because he has been anointed by God, and because of the good work, the people rose to say this is the man.

“Obaseki has a good mind. But, people who do not understand him particularly are those who either do not have deep knowledge about human beings or those who have hatred for education and independence of opinion.

“They thought it is still the era to play the gutter politics that we have been playing over the years where one man will hold sway and say this is the direction that we have to go because people like him a lot.

“We have to give him the needed support for the renewal of his mandate and of course for supporting the PDP.

“Since 2007, PDP got out of favour in Edo State due to the imaginations of their hands. They threw away the Governorship. And those that thought that Oshiomhole was a good man that could be substituted to elicit good governance afterwords, he showed a lot of ingratitude.

“The year 2020, precisely after 12 years, we (PDP) got power back through Governor Godwin Obaseki. It happened the way that God designed it and it worked. My joy today is that those of us who are alive, and part and parcel of this change, we give glory to God. We have learnt our lessons and we will never lose Edo State again”, he said.
