A bypatisan group, Truth and Justice Vanguard has called on the law enforcement agency and other relevant bodies to investigate the incessant fatal accidents involving the convoy of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State towards preventing future fatalities.

The Coordinator of the group, Mr. Hilary Ayokhai who disclosed this at a Media briefing on Sunday in Benin City where he picked hole on outburst expressed by the main opposition party in the State who link the crashes to assassination on Oshiomhole.
He said his request was predicated on a total of 11 deaths on air and road crashes linked to the former Labour leader since the past 15 years.
Ayokhai stated that aside from the recent road crash involving Oshiomhole’s convoy and a lorry which claimed the live of two police personnel around Oluku Community on Benin Lagos road, three journalists and a driver had died on his convoy on April 28, 2012.
He gave the names of the three Journalists and the driver as Mr. George Okosun (Independent Television Camera man) and a reporter with the organization, Mr. Olatunji Jackob and Mr. Fidelis Ohani, Africa Independent Television (AIT) as well as Mr. Samson, the bus driver all of whom perished in a road crash before his re-election in 2012.
Ayokhai, revealed that December 14, 2008, five persons, including the Chief press secretary, CPS, to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Mr. Chris Nwachukwu, and the personal assistant, PA, Mr Greg Haruna, lost their lives in a motor accident on Auchi road, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State where he hails from.
According to him, “This happened a month after Oshiomhole became governor. The speculation at this time was that these people were used as sacrifice for the victory he received at the courts which saw him sworn in as governor a month earlier”.
The Coordinator of the Vanguard and Truth further recalled that on September 21, 2005, a human rights activist and Executive Director of a Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Mr Chima Ubani, and vanguard’s photographer, Tunji Oyeleru also died in a ghastly car crash in Potiskum, Yobe State.

He further alleged that Mr Chima Ubani, had vacated his airplane seat for Oshiomhole and elected to go by road, driven in Oshiomhole’s official Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC President’s spot Utility Vehicle to Potiskum in Yobe State when he met his death.
Ayokhai who relied on Newspapers publications, recalled further that the organisation later petitioned the then Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mike Okiro, demanding full investigation into circumstances surrounding Ubani’s death. The CLO said a six-page report on preliminary investigation into Ubani’s death, pointed precisely to causes other than a simple accident.
He said, “In view of the above facts, we hereby restate our call to the police and other relevant security agencies to immediately begin an investigation into these incessant crashes involving the convoy of Adams Oshiomhole, so that we can save more of our people from dying in his convoy”.
