Some heads of deities in Benin from in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have interceded for Governor Godwin Obaseki, Candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in the State.

They spiritual exercise took place on Thursday when the incumbent Governor with his deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu led members of Edo PDP Campaign Council visited the Priests (Igiehen) at Ogbeson Quarters in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State to seek their Royal blessing and permission to campaign in their domain.

The Ohenegie N’Ogbeson, High Priest Igbinokhuaihe Ediagbonya who spoke on behalf of the group, paid tribute to God and his ancestors.

Igbinokhuaihe, described Obaseki as a true son of Benin and a rare breed and charged the PDP Candidate and his running mate to take the advice of the Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare II seriously.

“From the different Local Government Areas we came from, Oba is the head and senior. He owns Benin. He is the ultimate and one who has the power to repair.

“We heard that you people have gone to meet with out father, Oba Ewuare II before coming here.

“Heed to the advice our royal father strictly please…When Oba has said it. We do not have the power to add or remove from it.

“What Oba has said is the way. We are behind you. Whatever he wants us to do, we will give and support you in prayer.

“May the ancestors be with you.

“Our prayer to Almighty God and his ancestor to guide you.

“We thank you for this visit. You are a true son of Benin that cannot be pushed over. You are a rare breed”, he said.

Former Senate whip, Senator Roland Owie and Senator Owie moderated the brief session.
