The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) on Monday took Governor Godwin Obaseki re-election campaign to residents living at Ilushi and Ifeku Island at the bank of River Niger in Esan South East Local Government Area of the State.

Welcoming PDP Campaign team at Ifeko Island, the Traditional ruler of Settlement, Igue Patrick Eyen, endorsed Candidate of PDP, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Mr. Philip Shaibu for the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in the State, citing the performance of the Government.
Eyen who prayed for members of the entourage, also drew the attention of his guests to the problem of power supply in the area and the dearth of personnel in basic schools in the area.
He said, “Our prayer on September 19, 2020 your excellency, you will be returned back to office.
…On Christ the solid rock we stand”, he declared.
Responding, Governor Godwin Obaseki who gave a brief historical maternal connection with the people of Ilushi, lamented the impact of erosion menace at the Bank of the River.
He promised to liaise with appropriate authorities towards mitigating its impact and protect livelihoods.
The incumbent Governor who promised to support businesses in the area to create job opportunities for youths and women in the locality under the 30-year long term master plan for the State if re-elected.
The PDP hopeful recalled that his Government had set up a marine base to deal with the security challenges and procured gun boats for the police personnel in the area.
“Ilushi is not new to me. When I was a Child, I use to follow my grandmother to Ozigono market.
“We need security and peace here.
“The future is bright no matter how gloomy today’, he said.
He also urged the people to promote peace and support development in the area.
