Edo 2020: Oshiomhole fears defeat, runs to Buhari, PDP alleges


The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) has linked the visit of the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa to the imminent defeat that awaits the party in the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State.


The Chairman of PDP Campaign Council in the State, Chief Dan Orbih disclosed this while addressing members of the party and supporters on Monday evening in Ward 6, Ubiaja, headquarters of Esan South East Local Government Area of the State.

He alleged that Oshiomhole had convoked an emergency meeting the previous day (Sunday) where he reviewed the acceptability of the Candidate of the party, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu across the 64 Wards that make up Edo north Senatorial district where the former Governor of the State hails from and concluded that APC will lose the poll.

“Before now, Oshiomhole was frightened by the Governor has enjoyed in the 64 Wards in Edo north.

“Yesterday (Sunday), Oshiomhole conveyed an emergency meeting and today (Monday), he went to tell Buhari will lose Edo State”,he said.

He described the former national Chairman of APC as an enemy of Esan people over his alleged refusal to appoint prominent personalities from the locality into key position during his tenure as Governor of the State.

On his part, Governor Godwin Obaseki, promised that no part of the State will be marginalized in any part of the State under his watch.

He alleged that his predecessor betrayed the trust of his people by concentrating 60 per cent of the resources of the State to a particular Senatorial district of the State.

The Governor announced the construction of Ubiaja-Ugboha road; Just as he declared that the design work on Ubiaja-Iddo road has started.

Speaking during his visit to the palace of Enojie of Ubiaja, His royal Highness Curtis Iredia Aidonejie 1, Governor Obaseki, assured the people of his desire to seek re-election and attract note development to the people if re-elected in the forthcoming poll.

He also assured the traditional ruler of his plans to address infrastructural challenges and the epileptic power supply in the area.

Responding, Enojie of Ubiaja, His royal Highness Curtis Iredia Aidonejie 1 who spike through Chief Ikheria Augustine, said the good work of the Governor will speak for him during the poll.
