The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) national Campaign Council and Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and the Candidate of the party claimed victory for their party ahead of the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State as the various Contestants in the race scramble to make a final pitch for votes.
They disclosed this during the formal flag-off of APC Governorship Campaign in Edo State at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Sports Complex on Saturday in Benin City.
Ganduje told the cheering crowd that “we are highly impressed with the performance of Edo Committee. From the crowd that we have seen here, we have won the Governorship election…We have to conclude here that APC will the Governorship election.
He however expressed regret over the crisis over power tussle in the State house of Assembly.
Similarly, Candidate of the APC in the election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, said that his party the forthcoming election.
“I want to assure you that in these election, we will not only win the election; We will win the 18 Local Government Area of the State”, he said.
He however urge members of his party and supporters to mobilise for APC in the election.
On his part, Chairman of APC Caretaker Committee Chairman and Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, assured that his party will will emerge victorious in the poll.
He urged members of the party and supporters to embrace peace and shun electoral violence.
“We are here (in Edo) to take back our mandate and our State. We were here four years ago, and you voted for APC. We urge you to vote APC.
“We urge you not to be violent in the election because victory is ours. We are here to win. We must ensure that every vote count”, he said.
In a remark, the former national Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, alleged failure of some institutions in the State under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s watch.
He prayed that “any weapon of violence by those who are prepared to loose election in Edo will not prosper”.
Oshiomhole, former Governor of the State, also urged his successor of the party to stop fleecing perceived political enemies instead of making them useful to themselves and society.
The deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-agege, Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i (Kaduna) and Governor Hope Uzodinma (Imo) States were present at the Ceremony.
Other prominent personalities are Chairman of Progressives Governors’ Forum, and Governor Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi), Governor Yahaya Bello (Kogi) who was represented by his deputy, Mr David Edward Onoja as well as Minister of Transport, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and his counterpart in Power and Steel, Mr Uche Oga.
