Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Hon. Philip Shaibu have been conferred with rare Chieftaincy titles for their devotion to governance in the State.

EDO STATE GOVERNOR, GODWIN OBASEKI ADDRESSING HRM MOSES AKPAMU, OGIE-EPPA DURING HIS VISIT TO HIS PALACE

The traditional ruler of Weppa Clan in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness, Moses Akpamuka presented the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State and his running mate with the honour at his palace on Wednesday.

Obaseki was honoured as the Ozemoya of Weppa Clan a man who took his people from grass to grace) while his deputy, Hon. Philip Shaibu conferred the Oyiatse (a man who assist others to get to the top position) of Weppa Clan.

The Ogie-Eppa’s palace, His Royal Highness, Moses Akpamuka, endorsed the incumbent Governor and his deputy for a second term in office.

The traditional ruler who thanked the Governor for assisting the Weppa Community to attain autonomous status after 40 years they were denied the position.

He prayed God and his forebears to bless the Governor and make a hedge of protection around him.

“I am not going to tell you that we will vote for you or not. But, when I am happy like this, you will know that my people are happy with you.

He thereafter decorated the Governor and his deputy in the traditional attires and royal beads and gave him gifts including a ram.

He also urged Governor Obaseki to make Weppa-Weno his second home when he leaves office.

According to the Royal father, ” All we are saying is that you will no regret as you embark in these journey”.

The Candidate of PDP in the election, Mr Godwin Obaseki inna remark promised to consolidate on the gains his administration and make the people to be economically empowered.

According to him, “I am grateful that Weppa-Weno is not a barren land”.

Earlier in a remark, the Iyaserl of Weppa Clan, Chief Stan Esekhome, drew the attention of the Governor and his Guests to the challenges that are facing the Community and sued for Government support in addressing decay infrastructure.

He appealed to the State Government to de-acquire the forest reserve in the area which he claimed has become a den for hoodlums.

Addressing PDP members and supporters in Ward 4 in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State on Wednesday, Governor Godwin Obaseki, urged eligible voters in the September 19, 2020 to vote for him in order to attract more development to the area.
