The Peoples Democratic party has urged the All Progressives Congress to desist from the habit of using thugs to settle political scores ahead of the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State.

Edo State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr Chris Nehikhare disclosed this while briefing the Media on Monday in Benin City.
He accused the main opposition party in the State of attempting to cause violence, thereby discouraging the electorate from exercising their franchise during the polls.
The PDP allegation comes few days after one of the Candidates in the election with “lions and Tigers of Edo State” was caught on camera launching zingers at his political enemies.
“The PDP as a political party is very interested in the peace and development of Edo State.
“We discourage, and condemn the mobilisation of thugs to settle political scores or to be used in the campaign.
“But, we are here today to tell the electorate not to border about the threats as the State Government and security agencies will nip whatever negative plans that they have in Edo State in the bud.
“You are aware that a few days before the campaigns started, our opponent met with members of his party that call themselves lions and Tigers of Edo State.
“These people were encouraged and instigated and mobilised to attack Edo people.
“In that video trending on social Media, a Party Candidate said you know that you are dangerous…They were encouraged to beat up and maim and threaten the electorate in Edo State.
“The essence of that visit by the Tigers of Edo State is to intimidate and frighten Edo people so that they will not come out on election day to vote.
“We also noticed yesterday (Sunday) that the former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, apologising to Edo people for forgiveness. We are not amused.
“We find it ridiculous that a man who stood on the podium just four years ago to condemn the man he wrote all forms of things about him. He had said he is ready to set aside his immunity to defend what he was saying.
“But, it is sad that these same man is telling us that he made a mistake in the choice of Obaseki four years ago. And Edo people should ask, can these nan be trusted?”, he queried.
“What Obaseki is doing is to clean up he mess of Adams Oshiomhole left behind.
“Oshiomhole shouldn’t have been campaigning now, but explaining to police what he did with Edo State money. For Eight years, he took over N42 billion as security vote and nothing to show for it.
“We urge Edo people not to be intimidated or threatened”, Nehikhare stressed.
