Construction work at the proposed international hostel at the main Campus of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has commenced.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami supervised the ground-breaking Ceremony of the 28-executive-room hostel, is being funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND.

The Public Relation Officer of the University, Dr (Mrs) Benedicta Ehanire who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, said the edifice would be delivered in 42 Weeks.

Prof. Salami described the proposed edifice which marks the first of many major projects to being executed during her tenure as symbolic.

Our Correspondent reports that the project is expected to reduce the students demand for shack buildings that had been converted to hostels outside the institution.
