High court judge escapes death in Edo

.

Edo State High court judge (name withheld) narrowly escaped been crushed to death by a massive tree that crashed on his residence at Okada Avenue, Government Reservation road in Benin City.

THE BIG TREE THAT FELL AT THE JUDGE’S HOUSE

The big tree which is about 3 feet wide, destroyed the security post completely during a windstorm that did not give any warning sign on Friday night.

Our Correspondent could not verify if there was any casualty as at the time of filing this report.

As at the time our Correspondent visited the nail-biting scene, the occupants have deserted the house.

But a resident living in the neighborhood, described the disaster as the “handiwork of forces of darkness”.

“It sounded like the gods of thunder were coming down on us last night”, he said a tree surgeon had been contacted to use a chainsaw to cut down the large trunk of the tree.

Recall that in fulfilment of his promise to meet the going deficit of Edo State High court judges, governor Godwin Obaseki, built and handed over judges quarters in Aiguobasimwin Street in GRA, Benin City to the immediate past Chief of the State, Justice Esohe Ikpomwen, a monument that has become a reference point to most residents of the State.
