*Imasuangbon, Ogbeide-Ihama missing
Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa governor Godwin Obaseki along with leaders of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) caucus in Edo State have converged on Government House in Benin City for a crucial meeting.
A former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion and his deputy, Mr Mike Oghiadomhe, former Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi are in attendance the closed-doors meeting which began at about 6p.m on Sunday.
Two PDP Senators in the State, Matthew Urhoghide, representing Edo South Senatorial district, and his counterpart in Edo Central Senatorial district, Clifford Odia Senator Odion Ugbesia.
Others are Mr Gideon Ikhine, Joe Edionwele, Jude Ise Idehen, PDP State party Chairman, Hon. Tony Aziegbemin, and former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Friday Itulah.
Mr Felix Imoisili, PDP Chairmanship aspirant are among the late callers at the meeting along with PDP Chieftain in Egor Local Government Area of the State, Mr Nosa Adams and Mr John Yakubu who was the running mate to PDP Candidate in Edo State 2016 Gubernatorial election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
PDP Governorship aspirant, Engr Gideon Ikhine was present at the meeting while two others, Mr Kenneth Imasuangbon and Engr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama were absent at the meeting.
Sources said that the meeting was convened by Governor, Godwin Obaseki towards a hitch-free indirect Governorship primary election in the State and mainstreaming a good working relationship with leaders of the party.
It is his first interactive session with the leaders since he joined the party last Week days after announcing his resignation from the All Progressives Congress.
Details of the meeting remains sketchy, but Government House source told our Correspondent on condition of anonymity on Sunday evening that the Governors are expected to deliberate on a wide range of issues.
He hinted that the will also fine tune arrangement ahead of the forthcoming Governorship primaries in Edo State which has been shifted to June 23, 2020.
“You are aware that some PDP aspirants are yet to agree to terms with the Governor or step down for Governor Obaseki.
“All these are the issues for deliberation ahead of Thursday’s primaries.
“Okowa came to show solidarity with the Governor with the PDP members”, he said.
