Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted, Alh. Dahiru Hammanyero Nyako, elder brother to former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Hammanyero Nyako.

He was abducted when the hoodlums attacked Mayo Belwa town and abducted the 90-year-old man recently lost a brother late Isa Hammanyero Nyako, last night.

Witnesses say the gunmen struck in the midnight, firing shots to scare residents.

“They came in numbers firing gunshots to scare us in late midnight.

“All efforts to get security intervention to no avail, despite the presence of the Operation Farauta that consists of soldiers, police and civil defence corps.

“They (Gunmen) succeeded in whisking him away with no resistance, today the whole town is in an atmosphere of agony and despair,” said a local resident who doesn’t want his name mentioned.

Also corroborating a relative who simply identified herself as Shamsiyya chanted, “Innalillahhiwa,innalilihi ilaihi raji,un , late-night they (gunmen) have kidnapped our father Alhaji Dahiru Hammanyero Nyako.

Effort to reach the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Mayo-Belwa, (DPO) was unsuccessful.
