The fragile consensus agreement reached by four Governorship aspirants in Edo State All Progressive Congress (APC) faction loyal to Adams Oshiomhole has ran into troubled water as a result of the conflicting interests of the aspirants ahead of the party primaries slated for June 22, 2020.

The political bond of confidence, according to reports that formerly agglutinate the phantom agreement that was reached Governorship aspirants, Mr Solomon Edebiri, Mr Charles Airhiavbere, former Minister of Works (State), Mr Chris Ogiemwonyi and the immediate past deputy Governor of the State, Mr Pius Odubu, got broken when Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu secretly collected nomination form on behalf of the former Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Mr Osaro Obazee, believed to be one of his staunch supporters without the consent of three others.
It was gathered that Ize-Iyamu’s action which was a tactical move to checkmate former member of Edo State House of Assembly, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen who is allegedly being sponsored by Governor Godwin Obaseki, was said to have incensed other aspirants some of who had accepted their fate, congratulated Ize-Iyamu and promised to support him.
In the light of the above, Mr Pius Odubu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State and Mr Chris Ogiemwonyi, collected the governorship nomination forms.
Our Correspondent recalls that Odubu, Ogiemwonyi and Mr Charles Airhiavbere and Mr Solomon Edebiri withdrew from the race after a screening exercise which threw up Pastor Ize-Iyamu as a consensus Candidate of the faction.
TheNewspad can report that Observers are optimistic that the embattled incumbent Governor of the State, Mr Godwin Obaseki who has being having a running battle some leaders of his party (APC) and the national Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole may have the last laugh barring any last minute change, if the Governor’s intentions to mend fences with the aggrieved members of APC are genuine, he may win APC nomination in the party ahead of the party primary elections.
