Two policemen have been arrested after exchanging blows with each other in a viral video over undisclosed amount of money thought to have been extorted on Wednesday from motorists during the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by Edo State Government to halt the spread of infectious novel Coronavirus.

The policemen attached to the Nigeria police, Ebelle Division in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State identified as Corporal Ozimede Aidonojie with Force Number 516382 PC and police Constable Salubi Stephen were arrested and detained at Edo State police headquarters.

Their arrest was confirmed on the official Tweeter handle of the Nigeria police Force @PoliceNG in the early hours of Friday.

The police authorities (Abuja) in a series of tweets, said, “they (Corporal Ozimede Aidonojie with Force Number 516382 PC and police Constable Salubi Stephen) are currently undergoing internal disciplinary sanctions at Edo State police Command headquarters.

” The Force wishes to apprise the general public that this show of shame is certainly not in our character and we will not condone such indiscipline.

“In the best tradition of transparency and accountability, the outcome of the trial will be made public. This, we believe, will also serve as deterrent to other police Officers”, the tweet said.
