Edo journalist detained in govt house over report on extra-judicial killings

A Benin-based journalist, Mike Osarogiagbon has been detained in Edo State Government house in Benin City over a report he authored on extra-judicial killings in the State.

He dropped the hint on his Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon, following the alleged refusal of the top Government Official to order his release to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council.

Osarogiagbon who wrote from his confirming, alleged that he was lured by the Chief Security officer (CSO), Government house at about 10: am and subsequently detained on order of a top Government Official.

“I have been matched to d deputy gov’s office who d CSO claimed wants to see me”, he said.

“The CSO said the Commissioner of Police reported me to the state governor”.

The journalist regained his freedom at about 5:17pm, but, was asked to report back on Wednesday.
