Ize-Iyamu calls Obaseki out of Isolation to avoid incapacitation

A frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Friday called Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki out of self-Isolation in order to avoid been incapacitated haven tested negative for the Coronavirus pandemic weeks ago.

Ize-Iyamu made the remark during a live radio interview which was monitored on Friday evening in Benin City where he advised Obaseki to stop relying on Press releases as the only Medium of Communicating with the electorate.

He challenged the Governnor to come out of self-Isolation if he is not incapacitated, adding that the electorate want to interphase with him as the challenges caused by Covid-19 in the State abates.

TheNewspad recalls that governor Obaseki went into self-isolation on March 25, 2020 and sent his samples for test as a precaution to to protect people after he contact with Mr Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Bala Mohammed at the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and National Economic Council (NEC) meetings in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

But, the governor was confirmed him negative for Covid-19, via a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie.

Ize-Iyamu, former Secretary to Edo State Government who clarified that he he does not wish him evil, said: “Of course that is not happening. This is the time when government must Provide leadership.

“I wish the governor evil. Politics will not allow me to do that. When he (Governor) tested negative, a lot of us were happy. If you are negative then come out because coming out, and talking to our people re-assure them.

“So, government in these period ought to have increase their interphase with the people to make them know that all is well.

“This is the time where government must provide leadership. Many of us have not seen the governor, but, we have been seeing his deputy, Philip Shaibu.

“If the Governor is on leave, seen the deputy Governor would have been okay.

“Our people are terribly stressed, they can’t go to work, and there is not food. So, you need to constantly talk to them.

“They want to see the man they elected constantly talking to them and that things are getting better. This is not about issuing press releases…unless you are incapacitated, then we will understand”, he said.

On Friday afternoon, governor Obaseki announced his verified Tweeter page that five patients who contracted Coronavirus disease have recovered.

He however did not give personal details of the individuals.
