Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu has accused political opponent and his counterpart in All Progressives Congress, APC of playing politics with Coronavirus pandemic.

He dropped the hint on Monday at an interactive session with market women leaders to review and contain the spread of Covid-19 in the State.
His comment appears to be a veiled reference to last Week Friday’s gesture by a frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu who provided food materials for vulnerable people in the State, leaving Facebook buzzing and tweeter chirping.
Shaibu, admitted that virulent criticisms against Obaseki led-government has been rife on social Media since the outbreak of Covid-19, yet, such attacks will not warrant any reaction from him or the State government.
According to him, “we will not react to those things that we are seeing on social Media…So, all those who want to be playing politics with human lives, we have no hand in it.
“Mr Governor has said anything about politics should go to sleep for now until we have send Coronavirus to where it came from, then, we will not play politics.
Taking that reality into account, the Secretary to Edo State Government, Mr Osarodion Ogie had earlier warned of consequences of bad behaviour.
The SSG who spoke in Edo Language, urged the market women to support governor Godwin Obaseki-led government in the fight against Covid-19.
He stressed that the government is not not perturbed by the antics of politicians who are using the Coronavirus pandemic to attract undue attention to themselves at the expense of human lives.
Ogie boasted that when governor Godwin Obaseki finally throws his hat into ring ahead of the State Governorship election, it will go unnoticed.
