Mr Tony Aziegbemin, kinsmen of late Chief Tony Anenih on Sunday emerged winner of Edo State Peoples Democratic party, PDP Chairmanship election.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Edo State PDP Congress and Oyo State governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, declared him winner for polling a total of 817 votes ahead of the first runer up, Mr Felix Omi Imoisili who scored 488 votes and two others, Mr Sylvanus Eruanga and Friday Okah who did not secure any vote in the contest.
Makinde who was represented by his political Adviser, Mr Babatunde Oduyoye, said results of other Contestants will be released as soon as counting is completed.
Mr Hilary Otsu, former Assistant Secretary of the party won the position of the State PDP Secretary after securing 739 votes while Mr Omololu Ojehomo scored 275 votes ahead of Mr Henry Ekundayo who did not secure any vote.
Bishop Anthony Okosun and Mr Shegun were returned unopposed for the position of Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial district while Mr Nosa Ogieva picked the position of the Vice Chairman of Edo South Senatorial district with 701 votes ahead of his fellow contestant, Architect Mike Ehima who scored 496 votes.
The incumbent State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr Chris Nehikhare was returned elected for polling 631 votes to defeat Avanrenren Goodluck Osarenren who scored 126 votes.
Mr Arthur Isene Idemudia was elected as the State legal Adviser of the party for pilling the highest votes cast in the ballot while Mr Fidelis Igenegbale won the position of Financial Secretary of the party with a total of 642 votes ahead of Evangelist Oboh Adekunle.
The former State Women Leader of PDP, Mrs Oghe Tes Sorae was returned elected with 694 votes.
Our Correspondent reports that six Contestants out of the 17 postilions in the election were returned unopposed.
Voting started at 4:pm on Saturday and ended at 8:am on Sunday while a total of 1563 delegates were accredited for the election.
A breakdown of the figures indicates that Edo South Senatorial district, has 544 delegates, followed by 534 delegates from Edo North Senatorial district in addition to 487 delegates from Edo Central Senatorial district.
Aziegbemin hails from Edo Central Senatorial district of the State where late Chief Tony, former National Chairman of PDP and Minister of Works hails from.
The PDP Chairman was the House of Representatives member, representing Esan South East and Esan North East Constituency in Edo State.
Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, the member representing Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, urged other Contestants who lost in the election to put the past behind and work towards the victory of the party in the forthcoming election.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of Edo State PDP, Mr Tony Aziegbemin, promised to activate the winning streak of the party and reclaim power back in the forthcoming 2020 governorship election in Edo State.
