Why Benin monarch ordered restriction of ‘night movement’ around palace


The Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare II has announced restriction order on human and vehicular movement around his palace from 11p.m between Sunday March 15, and Monday March 16, 2020.


The order which was contained in a terse statement by the Secretary to Benin Traditional Council, BTC, Mr Frank Irabor and dated March 10th 2020, “advised the general public in their own interest to keep away from Airport road axis, Adesogbe (Plymouth road) axis, Alaka Street and Ezoti Axis” in Benin City, Edo State Capital between 11p.m and 4a.m during the period.

Last week, the earl of Plymouth (Oba Ewuare II), called for an inter-denominational prayer and fasting for the various religious heads in the State to among others, ward-off evil from Benin Kingdom.

The climax of the spiritual exercise, according to a previous statement from the Secretary to BTC, Mr Frank Irabor, is billed to begin at 2p.m on Sunday March 15, 2020.
