A pressure group, Edo Transformation League on Tuesday urged the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to intervene in the feud between Mr John Mayaki, former Media Aide to Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki towards halting the bile seeping through the sewage of social Media against the the later.

In a petition addressed to the National president of  NUJ, and endorsed by its National Coordinator, Barr. Broderick Owamagbe Enabulele, the group recalled a plethora of libellous publications authored by John Mayaki who pride himself as Joseph Goebbels of Edo People’s Movement, alleged that “Nigerian press has been the lifeline inspiring a sense of hope to most traumatized Nigerians”.

The Benin-based group, particularly bemoaned a recent publication credited to Mayaki and titled: “Trouble in Obaseki’s illegal Assembly: Embittered Okiye threatens to shut EDHA, run abroad”.

According to Enabulele,  “the publication is one of the mischievous figment of his cruel imagination, aimed at bringing down all institutions of government in Edo State, while oiling the heartless ego of his paymaster.

“There is no single truth in this publication, other than to enthrone a perception of hate-insurgency on the part of Edo people against Edo State Government.

 “We will pledge to produce on demand, hard or soft copies of his (Mayaki) numerous diatribes and missive against Edo State Government. 

“The depth of devious prevarications by John Mayaki against Edo State Government lives much to be desired for journalism in Nigeria.” he said.
